Sooo I’m a little bit behind here! However this was my last stop, so not terrrribly far behind. 🙂

This time I was in New York!

image

Got in my VW Jetta and cruised to Potsdam!

image

image

I just loved the scenery, upstate New York is so beautiful!

image

image

The campus was also quite a looker itself

image

image

image

image

image

The student center had some near felt banners for all the student orgs. Note- my sweet panoramic camera action caught the girl in the pink hoodie on get journey a few times.. Oops?

image

image

I’m not really sure what these signs were about in the union though.. I can’t tell if I’m offended or subconsciously inspired?

image

Some of the sights of the city on my journey:

image

image

The Bagelry, stopped there for breakfast on my morning out of town, yummy!

image

Little Italy, where I had my first and only slice of New York pizza. It was good, but I have to say, I’m a Chicago gal through and through!

image

image

On my last day in New York I said goodbye to my last chapter visit, a great bunch of women for sure!

Spent a few days down in Hammond, LA visiting the Phi chapter and boy are they a great bunch! Lots of fun, hard working Taus down in Louisiana!

During my stay the women put me up in a room in the chapter house, which, was super pretty! Loved it 🙂

Sweet Home Alabama

I just love that movie 🙂

Stopped at our only Alabama chapter located in Livingston, AL for a few days.

image

image

image

I stayed in their chapter room, they have a separate guest room attached, very EC friendly and convenient!

image

image

image

image

image

image

image

I also got done pictures at their really nice football stadium, they’re huge on their Tigers here. Told me it was tradition to get a picture with the tiger.. Too bad I was on a walk and had no camera crew, the tiger and I took a MySpace style pic though, no worries 🙂

image

image

image

image

Random Student Union Building picture, I just love around all the flags at the different universities

image

And then there was my fave rental car ever, the Nissan Murano, I wasn’t one!

image

And just some fun pictures from around campus, like the campus chickens and the wild turkey/goose hybrids. They chase golf carts and people around campus, I saw this first hand, they’re crazy!

image

image

Then there was this little guy who followed me around campus while I was walking to meetings, I sure hope his owner found him, hes adorable 🙂

image

And to sum up my stay in Alabama…

Chowan’a Visit Murfreesboro?

Tucked away just below the border of Virginia in North Carolina is the well kept secret of Chowan University, home of the Delta Rho chapter of Alpha Sigma Tau. Quaint little campus of around 1,200 students.

During this leg of the trip I was given what some of us at headquarters would refer to as a rollerskate:

image

FIAT!
And thanks to this experience I know I will never, ever own a Fiat.

image

The Botanical Gardens, view from Norfolk Airport on my way to baggage claim.

image

Such a pretty state!

image

image

image

The executive committee and myself after Camp Tau

image

The chapter made me a North CAREolina basket complete with seashells, sweet tea, mini John Deer tractor, and bug spray!

image

…but in all reality, their note was pretty much the nicest and by far my favorite present in the basket 🙂

image

Had to also take a picture with my roomies for the weekend, they were the nicest hostesses!

image

Tori and Tara! Tara is actually from Illinois too, small world!

Such a beautiful place! I’m moving back here eventually, no kidding.

image

View from the hotel pool, my post work spot

image

On Tuesdays the food trucks come to campus so I got a nacho quesadilla and a red velvet cupcake, obvs.

image

image

Plus some more random pictures from the travels:

image

image

Found a gator in the mix student center, nbd. Also a guy with a pastor, just hangin’

image

Found Matt! Did dinner one night with him, haven’t seen this kid since high school! Must be nice to be living the dream in Miami 🙂

image

Fish tank on University of Miami’s campus

image

Obviously.

image

Okay, so Johnson & Wales is a huuuge culinary school. One of their bigger programs is Baking & Pastry so one of the girls made homemade red velvet for everyone during my presentation! So nice!

Will definitely be missing the warm weather and ocean. I’ll be back, no worries.

The beautiful Atlanta, Georgia! Love love LOVE it! Wish I could stay longer. Was here to visit Oglethorpe University, a small 1,300 enrollment school with 31 AST’s on campus:

image

image

The women have a chapter house tucked in to the cute little back woods of the campus:

image

image

(nice letters… Formerly a Delta Sig house but they left campus 4 years ago)

image

image

image

image

FYI- Tau parking only! 🙂

image

Each chapter has a chariot I the Homecoming parade, ours is pretty cool looking if you ask me!

I also found some familiar looking neighbors 😉

image

image

I did a little exploring of the student center after a meeting and found the Crypt Case, the university reopens and puts news items in every ten years and displays the items from ten years ago. Nice little history tradition

image

image

The women also took me to Brookhaven, the downtown area right next to campus, for almost all of my meals:

image

image

Below is Noche, a restaurant/tapas bar where several of the women are servers and we went there for DELICIOUS Mexican on Tuesday and then to Swirll, because I guess Fro Yo is all the rage down here.Cute shop too!

image

image

We also went to the mall where Teavana Corporate is located, Lenox Mall on Peachtree. After they tried to sell me a cast iron tea pot I told them I had actually worked at Teavana and was going to get a drink and they said, “you can make your own I’d you’d like!” Obviously me being a huge dork I was supes excited 🙂

image

image

The view outside Lenox Mall, gorgeous.

Last night in Atlanta with the Delta Pi chapter, will miss it here!

image

Next stop? FLORIDA!

R&R at the B&B in Arkadelphia

Lots of pretty scenery, a few pics were snapped along the way:

image

image

I especially love how I missed a good chunk of the wintery season and my transition in to spring trees was meerly a flight long!

During my visit to Henderson State University the chapter put me up at the Captain Henderson House on the edge of campus.

A little history, the family of Alpha Sigma Tau alumna Mary Jo Mann lived in the house for decades before it was sold to the university and turned in to a museum and now a bed and breakfast. It’s a beautiful Victorian-style mansion and I stayed in the Elk Horn Bank Founders Room aka the ’round room’ with a great view, as you’ll see.

image

image

image

image

image

image

image

And some of the other rooms in the house too…

image

image

image

image

Above is the balcony from the presidents room and below is the view from mine

Moving on to some of the campus:

“The Totem” this thing is HUGE! They bring it to football games, events in the quad, almost anywhere on campus for events. Pretty neat…lot of work though.

Special post coming up soon on New Member King at Upsilon!
